Our primary school is situated in Gajdosova Street in Brno – Židenice. Most of our pupils live here. The others come from Vinohrady and other town districts. Our school programme „Schola aperta – The Opened School“ and interesting school activities attract more and more pupils (a club for parents and their children, cooperation with nursery schools – project „The Fairy Tail School“, English lessons for pupils since the age of six, IT lessons with internet connection, stays in nature, ski courses for pupils in class 7, trips abroad – Italy, Vienna, England, many cultural and sport activities, excursions, competitions, art workshops and etc.). Our school is attended by about 500 pupils. They can use the modern IT classroom , Chemistry and Physics classroom, a school reading room with many encyclopaedias, literature for children and young readers and with specialized literature. They can have lunch in a dining room, buy drinks in several automats in the corridors or snack in the canteen. In summer months pupils can use the playground or the school garden at break time. The speciality of our school is teaching according to Montessori education programme. This programme is based on the possibility of choosing activities without restraint that come from child needs. Our school brings help to the children with educational and other problems. We integrate the children with various health defects and take care of the talented children, too. We cooperate with several special advice centres. There are about 36 teachers in our school, including after-school care centre and assistants for integrated pupils. The teachers are wholly qualified. Their other education is focused on foreign languages, working with computers, new methods of teaching. The teachers prepare various school projects for pupils. However, pupils work on some continuous projects, too : Animal adoption (ZOO), Partner towns Brno – Stuttgart (international cooperation), Save way to school, Empík (cooperation with the Police of the Czech Republic), ELSPAC (medical following of some chosen primary school children and their development), One world at schools (the project of „The man in difficulty“ society). We closely cooperate with parents of our pupils. They can find a lot of information on our school web sites. Our teachers also use SMS service for quick contacts with parents. They can visit our school and teachers in special days and weeks. We´ve made contact with PFMU (Masaryk University - Faculty of Education), especially with the Department of Special Education. We are going to become the faculty primary school. |
